On June 18, UFI (Union des Foires Internationales), generally known as the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, approved the Japanese authorization system for exhibition statistics based on the Third-Party Authorization System for Exhibition Statistics in Japan which was introduced on April 1, 2012 and has been managed by the Japan Exhibition Certification Council (JECC). The original document issued by UFI is as follows:

Re: UFI’s Auditing Rules – UFI Approved Event status
To whom it may concern
Dear Sirs,
We hereby confirm that UFI accepts the audit of the exhibition statistics (and more specifically visitor and exhibitor numbers/percentages including a breakdown into national/international) by any independent third party auditor that has been certified by JECC, the Japan Exhibition Certification Council. The standards laid down by JECC are completely in line with UFI’s standards.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on the above.
Yours faithfully,
Paul WoodwardManagingDirector(pw@ufi.org)

As you can see, UFI assures that the standards laid down by JECC are completely in line with UFI’s standards, as well as confirming that JECC’s Third-Party Authorization System for Exhibition Statistics in Japan fully complies with the global standards defined by UFI. As a result, the exhibitions certified by JECC as international exhibitions will be favorably considered as UFI-approved events.
UFI’s approval not only strengthens the popularity and trustworthiness of JECC’s Third-Party Authorization System for Exhibition Statistics in Japan, but also can be expected to help exhibitions held in Japan to gain international competitiveness.
For your information:
UFI is the most international and influential trade organization for the world exhibition industry whose members are exhibition organizers and facilities of 85 countries as well as 600 exhibition-related trade organizations and major show organizers all over the world. One of the UFI’s important missions is to clearly define how to count the number of visitors and exhibitors and their percentage including a breakdown of domestic and international exhibitions. This is the only standard recognized internationally. UFI also certifies those exhibitions that comply with such standard as the “UFI-approved events.”
