Japan Exhibition Certification Council

  The Japan Exhibition Certification Council (JECC) is pleased to announce that it has obtained confirmation from the Union des Foires Internationales (UFI), the global association of the exhibition industry, that the standards of JECC’s third-party authorization system for exhibition statistics in Japan fully comply with those required by UFI.

 

  On the basis of this confirmation, UFI has approved JECC as one of its recognized official certification organizations. JECC is therefore able to provide support to Japanese exhibition organizers with assistance in the process for having their exhibitions approved by UFI.
 

  When exhibition organizers apply for membership of UFI they are required to provide audited evidence to prove that at least one of the exhibitions they organize meets the standards required by UFI. Previously, exhibition organizers in Japan had to rely on certification organizations from outside of Japan to conduct an audit, or resort to the use of other third-party organization such as an accounting firm or a law firm to conduct a certification survey based on UFI’s standards
 

  As a result of the confirmation of JECC’s standards by UFI, the JECC is now able to issue an Audit Certificate that certifies that the exhibitions audited by JECC are of a standard sufficient to meet UFI approval. This will greatly assist Japanese exhibition organizers in applying for UFI membership.

  As stated above, JECC’s Third-Party Authorization System for Exhibition Statistics in Japan has been officially approved by UFI. This means that, by obtaining the certificate from JECC, the procedure for the Japanese companies or organizations to apply for the UFI membership has become much easier. In light of this important development, the JECC strongly encourages all exhibition organizers in Japan to take advantage of the JECC’s Third-Party Authorization System for Exhibition Statistics in Japan. Attention is drawn to the fact that the certification mark for JECC-approved exhibitions has been amended by the addition of the phrase “UFI-certified auditor,” as shown below.

UFI is the most international and influential trade organization for the world exhibition industry whose members are exhibition organizers and facilities of 85 countries as well as 638 exhibition-related trade organizations and major show organizers all over the world (as of 2014). One of UFI’s important missions is to clearly define how to count the number of visitors and exhibitors and their percentage including a breakdown of domestic and international exhibitions. This is the only standard recognized internationally. UFI also certifies those exhibitions that comply with such standard as the “UFI-approved events.”
 

The “UFI-approved events” (exhibitions, conferences, etc.) in Japan are as follows (as of 2014):

1. International Food and Beverage Exhibition (FOODEX JAPAN) (organized by Japan Management Association)

2. JIMTOF (organized by Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association and Tokyo Big Sight Inc.)

3. Interior Lifestyle (organized by Mesago Messe Frankfurt Corp)

4. International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference (organized by ICS Convention Design, Inc.)
